Cristiano Ronaldo scores 300th goal for Real
Cristiano
Ronaldo scored the 300th goal of his Real Madrid career to see off Rayo
Vallecano and remain within touching distance of Barcelona.
The
Portugal forward netted in the 68th minute to move Madrid within four
points of their great rivals, having already been wrongly booked for
diving in the area on what was shaping up to be a frustrating evening
for the three-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Yet
Ronaldo reached the landmark figure in just 288 appearances by doing
what all forwards should, sending a header downwards and beating
goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez, as the club's third highest goalscorer in
history edged closer to the totals of Alfredo Di Stefano’s 308 and
Raul’s 323.
