What's happened to Eminem? Rapper looks gaunt and unrecognisable as he speaks at awards show

Before and after
Eminem followed in Renee Zellweger and Heston Blumenthal's footsteps and shocked us by stepping out looking completely different this week.
The rapper looked gaunt and tired as he made a speech at the Wall Street Journal's Innovator Of The Year Awards in New York on Wednesday.
Wearing his signature woolly hat, the star showed off hollowed cheek bones and uneven skin as he took centre stage - a world away from the rapper we're used to in his early music videos.
While he seemed happy and relaxed on stage, Eminem appeared fairly tired and the lines around his mouth were clearly visible.

The rapper had struggled with drug abuse from back in 2002, when he was filming his hit film 8 Mile.
He became hooked on prescription drugs due to a lack of sleep.
After seeking help in rehab in 2005, the rap star took three years out from music before an almighty comeback with hits Relapse and Recovery.
He did in fact relapse almost straight away, but has since recovered, and it's not clear if the rocky road to recovery has affected his appearance.

Eminem admitted his addiction to prescription drugs such as Vicodin, Xanax and Valium became so overwhelming his organs began shutting down.
In the movie he admits he “thought [he] could control” his drug habit since he wasn’t “shooting heroin” or “smoking crack.”
The controversial star, real name Marshall Mathers, revealed: “I don't know what point exactly it started to be a problem, I just remember liking it more and more.
“Had I got to the hospital about two hours later, I would have died.
“My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything.
“They were gonna have to put me on dialysis, they didn’t think I was gonna make it.”
